Wild Boar Taking Over Rome With Female Mayor Refusing To Call In The Military
The above is my version of title by Heat Street Staff.
They report,
Italy’s boar population has rocketed to an estimated 1 million after a bigger, fast-breeding type was imported from Eastern Europe in recent years for hunting. A boar can now fetch 500 euros (about $550) on the open market.
Rome, the most beautiful city in Italy, has been overrun by wild boar due to really stupid political decisions.
Would YOU go to Rome if wild boar were running amok in the streets?
Here are some of the diseases that can be transferred from feral hogs to humans from Wiki:
- Pseudorabies Virus (PRV)
- Swine brucellosis (Brucella suis)
- Bovine tuberculosis (TB)
- FADs.
- African swine fever.
- Classical swine fever (Hog Cholera)
- Foot and Mouth Disease.
My heart is heavy because I loved that city, having been there twice in my life (in ’57 and ’63).
Why won’t the mayor call in the military? Is she afraid of angering hunters? Don’t they have an Italian version of the SPCA?
