U.S. Surgeon General: Data Doesn’t Back Up Wearing Masks In Public Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

This is somewhat shocking news. I had heard of the 2015 study on wearing masks vs not wearing them but this really changes things. I will no longer rail against those practicing distancing but not wearing masks unless they have the disease. Of course, how do we know if they have it? We cannot know!

Part of the Surgeon General’s statement is a red herring–that the public wearing cotton or non-N95 masks are “taking away masks” from doctors, nurses and first responders. Doctors and nurses wear N95 masks–not cotton masks and certainly not homemade ones!
