Stanford Coach Shaw Finally Plays Freshman Superstar WR, Donald Stewart

By Dave Levine

6-4 Freshman WR Donald Stewart finally got to play wide receiver in his first year–eight games into the season where he’s only been used on kick-offs. The young man with Jerry Rice hands and with great speed, Stewart should be worked into the Stanford offense NOW as they need another speed threat at WR.

QB Keller Chryst passed to Stewart (who wears #8 and sports white gloves) at the goal line but was severely interfered with by a defender and couldn’t make what would have been an easy catch for him. Two plays later, Chryst went the other way (with Stewart on the left end) for the touchdown to McBride.

There is absolutely no reason not to play this talented future star player now. Stanford’s only hope (at 5-3) is to get a bowl game. They cannot get to the Pac-12 Championship this year with three conference losses.

We want to see more of Donald Stewart!
