Stanford Coach ‘Cactus David’ Shaw Should Be Fired For Horrible Play-Calling, Use-Of-Clock And Putting Loser QB Burns In Sun Bowl Win

THE most horrible play calling I’ve ever seen at Stanford and I’ve been watching Stanford football since the mid-1950s.
After Chryst’s injury knocked him out, why didn’t Shaw play KJ Costello, their talented freshman QB? Burns was his usual awful self, taking sacks and throwing away passes.
Why play the Wildcat with a second-string running back? Why not continue going with success, giving the ball to Bryce Love? He put in the unproven Scarrett who ran sideways instead of up the middle for a TD and got stopped short of the goal line? North Carolina couldn’t stop Love!
How could Shaw keep a QB in the game (Burns) who was 5 yards over the line of scrimmage when he tried to pass the ball? All Burns can do is throw the ball in ground, take intentional grounding penalties and take sacks. TWO intentional grounding penalties on the same QB? What was Shaw thinking? How about countless offensive plays without any wide receivers with a third and five? Hmm?
In their final “drive”, Shaw called for a sweep. Love should have taken a knee inbounds, eating up valuable time for the Tar Heel offense. Instead, Love ran out of bounds. Really STUPID play calling and a bonehead play by Love. It almost cost Stanford the game.
And why didn’t Shaw play WR Donald Stewart? The kid is great but for some reason, Shaw wouldn’t play him. What’s he saving him for–next season?
Regarding injuries to QB Chryst and others, astroturf is the culprit. Get rid of astroturf and replace it with real turf and watch knee injuries go down. College football should require grass fields in all stadiums or the teams can’t compete–it’s that simple.
Did Shaw simply want to give the game to the Tarheels? Playing Burns was a gift to North Carolina and it almost worked. Instead, the Stanford defense led by all-world NT Solomon Thomas stopped the Tar Heels in the final 20 seconds.
Yes, Stanford barely won the game but NOT because of Shaw or the offensive coaches but because of the great Solomon Thomas and great special teams play!
FIRE SHAW AND THE OFFENSIVE COACH AND START 2017 OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT WITH AN AGGRESSIVE NEW COACH AND A NEW STRATEGY!!
