Stanford Back In College Football Rankings–#20 After Upsetting The #9 Huskies
By Dave Levine
Stanford is back in the Top 20 College Football Rankings sitting at #20. They were knocked out of College Rankings the previous week after losing to Washington State.
Other than pride (which is still important even today), national ranking helps tremendously in recruiting and Stanford has to have great recruiting success or they forget about beating USC, Washington and Washington State.
Stanford’s final two games are at home against an up-and-down Cal team next Saturday and the final game against now-#9 Notre Dame. Notre Dame was the #3 team in the nation until yesterday’s blowout by Miami.
Stanford plays better at home and should be fired up for both games. The offense is starting to look better and the defense came thru against Washington on Friday in the upset of the year.
Coach Shaw seems to have (thank goodness!) given up on QB Keller Kryst who has looked awful this year. Two of Stanford’s three losses were with Kryst at QB. The team needs to score touchdowns and that means red zone improvement.
If Stanford’s special teams, offense and defense can play the way did in the second half against Washington, the next two games will be fun to watch.
