Repost Time: Gorsuch Goes To Bat For Twice-Deported Illegal Alien In Gutierrez-Brizuela
The above is my version of title by Jacob Sullum in his February 1, 2017 piece at reason.com.
I reiterate: Gorsuch IS NOT a true Conservative! He’s from Boulder, CO–one of most left-wing cities in the nation. He belongs to a left-wing, pro-illegal alilen church.
But his decision on Gutierrez-Brizuela did it for me.
Right now, at this moment, supposed Conservative voters who post at the Conservative-turned-Trumpster sites are giddy over Gorsuch, saying “He makes the SCOTUS 6-3 Conservative!”
In point of fact, there are only TWO (2) true Conservatives on the Court–Alito and Thomas. The Court is currently 6-2 LIBERAL except in some cases where Roberts sides with Thomas and Alito. Adding Gorsuch–who I see as another Roberts at best–won’t turn the Court red! Even if you insist on labeling Gorsuch “a Conservative”, it’s still a 5-3 liberal court!
Two Conservative justices will have to be nominated and confirmed to make the SCOTUS a Conservative court and that won’t happen with Trump as President.
The only chance for a Conservative SCOTUS, as I see it, is if Trump doesn’t run for reelection and Gov. Abbott wins the 2020 nomination and the Election. I can see President Abbott nominating Cruz or another Conservative or two to the Court. Everything would depend on whether the Republicans retain the Senate.
