No One Is Asking Us What We Want: 300 Million Americans Left Out Of Puerto Rico Statehood Talk
By Dave Levine
I’ve reported on more than a couple of Puerto Rico statehood articles AND NOT ONE of them mentions how 300 million Americans feel about the bankrupt island–an island with massive unemployment and with 80% of its residents not speaking English–becoming the 51st state!
Puerto Ricans vote on statehood tomorrow but some Puerto Ricans who oppose statehood are boycotting that vote. Jessica Campisi at The Miami Herald writes about it here.
They say that Congress isn’t interested in the issue which isn’t exactly true–the Democrats would LOVE to see Puerto Rico become the 51st state! The votes of 3.5 million people would put Democrats in power and keep them in power.
Puerto Rico would LOVE it if the U.S.–we, the taxpayers–paid their $123 BILLION debt!
The Socialists running that island into the ground are to blame, not Conservative Puerto Ricans. Why should America absorb a bankrupt Socialist country’s debt where only 20% of the population speaks English?
PR has one principle crop–cane sugar. They have a naval base the U.S. would like to own.
Turning an 80% Democrat island into a Conservative one is a RINO pipe dream. It is always going to be a Democrat/socialist territory.
This notion of statehood has ZERO chance of passage in Congress.
