McConnell Can Stop Massive Amnesty Bill HR 5038 By Not Letting It Get To The Senate Floor
By Dave Levine
Senate Majority Leader McConnell can stop HR 5038 by not letting it get to the Senate floor. Otherwise, it will be voted on and will be passed (as RINOs control the Senate) and make it to Trump’s desk in an Election year. Trump cannot afford to anger his base (He’s already signed small Amnesty bills and two National Jailbreak bills). While he’s currently favored to win reelection, Trump cannot afford to anger Conservative voters by signing a massive Amnesty bill.
McConnell can avoid all the embarrassment and save the Senate for the GOP by not allowing HR 5038 to get to the Senate floor. The Senate could easily fall to Democrats in November if McConnell allows this Amnesty to get to the floor.
Conservative voters should also be concerned that McConnell may let HR 5038 sit there until January or February when the new Congress is sworn in and (with the likelihood that the GOP will keep the Senate) allow it to get to the floor then. But I believe the House would have to vote on it first. If the Democrats hold the House, the bill would pass again. Trump would almost certainly sign it after being reelected. However, if the Republicans take back the House, the likelihood that HR 5038 would pass again won’t be “a given”.
The Chamber and other pro-Amnesty groups want the Amnesty now. McConnell’s the only elected official who can stop HR 5038 from becoming law this year as Trump can be expected to sign it.
McConnell can save the Senate and The White House for The Republican Party by leaving HR 5038 alone.
