AG Candidate Eric Early Blasts California Attorney General Xavier Becerra For Threatening Employers Who Cooperate With Federal Immigration Authorities

Here is his statement on Becerra’s radical statements on defying federal law:

“Once again California’s current unelected Attorney General sides with illegal immigrants against the business owners who create our state’s jobs.  Mr. Becerra has again shown that he will do anything to put illegal immigrants before California’s taxpayers who pay his salary.”

“If the business owners heed Becerra’s threats, they could be in hot water with federal authorities for violating federal law. If they cooperate with federal immigration officials, Becerra will prosecute and hit them with massive fines,” said Early.

“Worse, California’s top law enforcement official is opposing legal federal authority in order to protect those living here illegally,” Early continued.  “Becerra’s conduct is borderline treasonous.”

Early noted the “Sanctuary State” law championed by Xavier Becerra and other extremist politicians is forcing ICE to ramp up raids in communities and on business, rather than focus on taking custody of illegal immigrant felons from cooperative state and local authorities.

“Becerra and his Democratic party enablers have helped create this mess and now he is threatening businesses and employers who are caught in the cross-fire,” said Early. “As Attorney General, I will end this reckless partisan gamesmanship, fight to get the “Sanctuary State” law repealed and focus on protecting the law-abiding.”
