27 People Indicted In Westport, CT In Worst Animal Cruelty Case In Modern U.S. History, 1,400 Animals Living In Horrific Conditions

The above is my version of title by Michael Levenson at The Boston Globe.

These kinds of persons should have the book thrown at them and serve long sentences but too often, they don’t do any jail or prison time. Animals are innocent creatures. They need humans for sustenance and care. Abusing them is an outrage!

Animal cruelty laws are weak in most states.

Here’s what the Animal Legal Defense Fund states in their 2015 report. Illinois remains the state with the toughest laws against animal abuse and Kentucky with the weakest such laws:

For the eighth year in a row, Illinois takes first place—followed by Oregon (2), Maine (3), California (4), and Michigan (5). Kentucky holds steady at fiftieth place for the ninth year in a row, followed by Iowa (49), Wyoming (48), Utah (47), and North Dakota (46) rounding out states with the weakest animal protection laws.

The Dave Levine Show wants to see animal cruelty laws toughened in ALL 50 states and abusers punished to the fullest extent of the law. Slaps on the wrists don’t change behavior!

Shame on New York (40) and all other “lower tiered states”!

My thanks to drudgereport.com for posting this horrific story today.
