2020 ALDF State Rankings For States With The Weakest And Toughest Animal Cruelty Laws
By Dave Levine from ALDF’s 2020 State Rankings page.
I missed this last year and am glad Eliot Cirivello at ALDF emailed the link to me for ALDF’s 2020 State Rankings. There have been MANY changes!
Maine now is ranked #1 with the toughest animal cruelty laws and longtime leader, Illinois has slipped to #2. California has slipped to #8. Oregon is still #3.
On the way up is Kentucky which was perennially at the bottom of the 50 states. Kentucky is now #44. New Mexico has taken over the worst state for animal cruelty in the U.S. at #50.
The state with the most improvement is Pennsylvania where there have been some truly horrific cat hording stories over the past few years. A few years ago, I had two PA State Senators on the show who co-sponsored PA’s then-toughest animal cruelty bill. They’ve obviously made it tougher, God bless them, as Pennsylvania is now #15–up from #44! Those two state senators were from different parties–one, a Democrat, the other, a Republican. Animal rights have no political boundaries. Conservatives and liberals love pets!
More to come when the ALDF comes out with their 2021 rankings.
